How does it work?

  • Cetaphil’s primary ingredients, petrolatum, glycerin and cetyl alchol are gentle and moisturizing, fantastic for sensitive skin and it absorbs easily and calms irritated skin.
  • Emollient’s or moisturizers, are often used to treat dry skin.  They help the skin by retaining water, and provide the skin with a layer of oil to prevent water loss, thereby lubricating your skin.
  • Common emollients are vitamin A, E, C, and natural aloe vera.  Common forms of Vitamin A emollients used in lotions are retinyl, retinoic acid, palmitate, retinal, etc.  Avocados contain a large amount of vitamin A and potassium.
  • The cream contains humectants or substances used promarily in cosmetic products to help retain moisture.
  • They are also known as hygroscopic or able to absorb ambient water.  Glycerol and glycerin are commonly known and used humectants and most have a vegetable oil base.
  • A humectant like mineral oil can actually be harmful because if you apply too much it may build up underneath your skin and block the absorbtion of vitamins and nutrients.
  • Overtime and through studies the beauty and healthcare industry has largely replaced mineral oil based products with vegetable oil.
  • The combination of ingredients in Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream brings about long-lasting relief for severely dry skin.  It’s non-greasy and can be used for any part of the body except maybe the lips.  Lip balm would be suggested.
  • It’s fragrance free and don’t have contain the irritants common from lanolins and parabins.  Lanolin or wool grease, is a waxy substance secreted by wool bearing animals.  About 1% of people are allergic to lanolin.
  • Parabins are used as preservatives in cosmetics and a small percentage of the population is also allergic to them.
Finally, the product is non-comedogenic. So won’t clog pores.

this is by far the best body lotion i’ve ever used. i have very sensitive skin and this lotion was recommended to me by my dermatologist. i told him that i didn’t want to use it because i can’t pronounce any of the ingredients (i’m all about organic and 100% natural) but he assured me that those are all things that our skin needs. so i decided to give it a try. BEST decision i’ve ever made for my skin. this doesn’t give me a glow and it doesn’t have the nice cucumber/vanilla/etc smell that the other lotions have but what it DOES do is it makes my skin look healthy.

I’ve been using Cetaphil for years at the advice of my dermatologist and I will never go back to using another lotion. It absorbs nicely into my oily skin and does not make me feel even more oily. It doesn’t irritate my skin which is a huge plus and does not make me break out, especially since I have bad acne.

super light on my skin, non-irritating, and absorbs quickly. my skin was super sensitive from before. i would have to put layers upon layers of heavy creams and moisturizers on my skin for it to feel hydrated, yet it would never be enough. then i came across this lotion, and although the first couple tries i was not used to having such a light lotion on my skin, now i am so glad that i switched over. it gave me relief from a dependency on heavy creams that i felt my skin was developing.

have been using this product for years now and I cannot complain how good this is. I have had skin problems, itchy skin, it’s like reddish on my skin and itches like crazy but Cetaphil has been my life saver since cortisone never worked on my skin. Every time my skin starts to itch again I just need to put a little amount of this lotion and it works perfectly. Thank you.

Cetaphil lotion is recommended to me by my dermatologist. I thought for sure that it would be like any other lotion. It turns out I was wrong. My eczema was terrible a few years ago, and I was told to shower with Dove soap, lukewarm water, and put on this lotion after showering. I still use the Cetaphil lotion today because it keeps my eczema away

Cetaphil is amazing. I was using Jergens before and my skin would always end up dry shortly after I put it on. With Cetaphil I stay moisturized throughout the day and night. I also love that I can use it on my face. Especially for colder weather this time of the year, it does a great job.

When I don’t need the heavy duty relief of Eucerin basic cream, I use this. Like now, when it’s getting warmer out. I use it on my face – no fragrance so I don’t get watery eyes and sneeze every minute or so – no irritating chemicals, or none that irritate my terribly sensitive skin. And it doesn’t have that substance that’s in almost every other lotion, the chemical (I think it’s a silicone) that allows the manufacturers to claim: Lasts For 24 Hours!!! I don’t care for a lotion that last for all that time, because they are sticky on the skin and I can live without that. I like one that absorbs, and if I need to reapply, I do so. It’s not a big deal, and it makes my skin feel clean, not sticky. Cetaphil has been one of my mainstay products over the years, it was one of the first that didn’t use fragrance, and didn’t irritate my skin. I use this all over, even the face. It’s fine under make up, it absorbs and softens, and that’s all I want from a lotion. It’s a great product, and worth buying.

Wonderful moisturizer, sometimes leaves my face looking a little greasy, but definitely the best facial moisturizer I’ve had in a long time.

Great product that started healing skin instantly. Within an overnight period of 12 hours my cracked hands were healing. I previously spent tons on money on other products and I will never do that again. Will be a life long supporter of Cetaphil. I even purchased the body wash as well and i love that.

Don’t like this product at all. Skin felt goopy after using it.

My face broke out badly and I don’t even have acne! I will stick to the oil free moisturizers with SPF30 that I wear all year around. Get the Cetaphil with the purple top. This one feels very greasy and actually did not rub in well on my face. Maybe they changed the product like others have said. Idk. This is my first time buying this type from Cetaphil. Now I’m questioning the brand. Hmm..
